The building illustrates the variety of organisations that were active in the town when the mine was at its peak with a workforce of about 250. The building was used by Manchester Unity Lodge, which commenced in 1924, until 1982. RAOB may have closed before 1982. The building is now privately owned with an uncertain future.
This solidly constructed building of simple rectangular plan sits at right-angles to the street, within a residential part of the town. The door is centrally placed on the longer side; highlight windows are created by employing short, precast wall slabs.
Integrity: The original fabric of the building is fully intact. Modifications: Nil
