The site represents a place which demonstrates a way of life, technical achievement and associations with pioneers of the district.
The site was originally occupied by the a Boarding house. After the garage was built in 1928, it was run by Jock Tweedie and Cyril Minchin joined him after completing his mechanic's ticket at Pithara. Minchin later became a partner in the garage, and subsequently continued the business after Tweedie left the area in 1934. The garage amalgamated with the Balkuling and Quairading garage a few years after Minchin returned from World War Two. In the early 1950s Minchin moved to live in Quairading, and the garage was demolished by T Kirkwood, and the materials used for the construction of the "Golden Mile Aerated Water factory in Kalgoorlie. Cyril Minchin was a manager of the Quairading Co-op. The Minchin family were early settlers in the district, and in the 1910s their home was the meeting place on Sundays. The annual New Year's day "Minchin's" cricket match at the recreation ground was an event not to be missed.
