The place is notable as an early site in the business and commercial development of the town of Woodanilling.
The site is situated in rugged Mallet hills, some 2-3 kms south west of the Carter (Horseshoe) homestead.
The several sites have since been filled in by Frank Carter (owner of the property) and are marked by white coloured quartz.
The holes were dug by McDonald from Kunmallup who had apparently spent some time
in the Eastern Goldfields of WA. No payable amounts of gold (if any at all) were
recovered.
