The Old Bridge is no longer is existence. The site is at Loc 558 on the Moore River with Reserve 742 on the north side.

History

This bridge, over the Moore River at Loc 213, was built in 1870, completely destroyed by flood in 1872, and rebuilt, much more strongly in 1873. It was used extensively and was very important to travellers as it was on the main road to Dandaragan and beyond and it was the only winter crossing on the Stock Route before the Cowalla Bridge was built (in 1908). The Old Bridge was detroyed by fire in 1902. Nearby are the ruins of Sam Walcott's home, which he built in the 1850's. He had 80 acres cleared, 40 acres fenced, and a very productive vegetable garden and orchard.
