House, 4 Walker, is is a typical brick and tile single storey house dating from 1935. The place has aesthetic value for its contribution to the streetscape and the surrounding area. It is representative of the' houses in the South Fremantle area. The place is an example of the Inter War Calinfornia Bungalow style of architecture.
Single storey brick and tile bungalow with an asymmetrical facade designed in the Inter War California Bungalow style of architecture. The walls are generally rendered masonry with decorative panels of face brick. The roof is hipped and half gabled with terracotta tiles. There is a terracotta gargoyle to the front ridge line. A terracotta roofed carport extension had been added to the front of the house. There is face brick fence with high brick piers to the front boundary with a small garden area behind.
House, 4 Walker Street was built in 1935/36. In that year, the rate books noted that a building was under construction. Neil Currie and Mary Corrie was listed as the owners. Neil and Mary subsequently married and lived in the house until the late 1950s, when it was sold to William and Bertha Dixon. The Dixons owned the house until c. 1990.
A diagram dated 1954 shows a brick house with a short front verandah. The plan form of the house reflects its inter-war construction date. A paved driveway from the street continued down one side of the house to the rear and a galvanised iron garage.
