Statement of Significance

The place is aesthetically important for it's architectural characteristics as a corner shop dating from 1922; it is historically important as a former service facility in the town (newsagent and drapery) and of social value for it's association with the local community. Adjacent to the museum is a building known as "The Saddlery"- former general store owned by Nathaniel Phillips.
