House, 22 Wittenoom Street is a single storey weatherboard and iron house has cultural heritage significance for the following reasons:
the place is a fine example of the Federation Bungalow style of architecture;
the place has landmark qualities and contributes significantly to the streetscape and the community's sense of place.
House, 22 Wittenoom Street is a single storey weatherboard and iron house designed as an example of the Federation Bungalow style of architecture. The walls are timber framed and clad with timber weatherboards. The roof is hipped and gabled and clad with corrugated iron. The verandah is under a separate bullnose corrugated iron roof supported by square timber posts with a scalloped timber frieze and decorative timber brackets. The asymmetrical facade has a projecting front room, a timber front door with sidelights and a timber framed double hung sash window.
House (fmr), 22 Wittenoom Street was built c 1900. The date of construction has not been determined as no entries for the lot could be found in available Bunbury Rate Books prior to 1941.
In 1941, House, 22 Wittenoom Street was owned by Mildred Barber and occupied by Thomas Hamilton. In 1951, Mrs Barber lived in the house.
At some stage, House, 22 Wittenoom Street has been converted for commercial use.
