Statement of Significance
This place has historic and social significance. Mrs Sorenson is said to have moved her house brick by brick from her farm in the Westonia Shire. The bricks had been handmade on the farm. After a fire Mrs Sorenson moved the bricks by wheelbarrow and by train and rebuilt the house on the present site. It was run as a boarding house for some years during the 1930s and 40s. Small corrugated iron shacks to the rear of the house were used as accommodation. The kitchen was quite large with two stoves.
Physical Description
The small one bedroom house has a gabled corrugated iron roof. The house has been extended over the years with verandahs added and a lean-to on one side. The mudbricks are plastered. To the rear is a brick and corrugated iron extension. The single men's quarters are small freestanding corrugated iron units to the rear of the property. A backyard toilet and an outside laundry serviced the boarding house tenants.
