The building is significant on the following grounds:
1. Building erected in 1929 when transferred from Group Settlement Scheme.
2. Regularly used by railway employees until replaced (on different site) by new institute.
3. Centre for meetings and recreational gatherings (billiards, etc.)
4. Centre for instruction for railway employees.
