Condition

The section from Bluff Point to Nargulu was decommissioned in 2005 and most of the rail, sleepers and ballast removed. Sections of rail were retained in front of Bluff Point Cottage, Utakarra Siding and Gate-Keeper's House, Utakarra. Rails also remain at all crossings. The line from Narngulu to Walkaway remains fully operational. Geraldton to Walkaway Railway Precinct is overall in fair condition, with most of the houses showing some deterioration of the roofs and stone walls. All of the Gatekeepers’ Houses are vacant and boarded, and Gatekeepers’ Houses at Utakarra and Short Road are derelict and in poor condition.
