Building forms part of the remnant building stock which make up the historic town's fabric.
Federation style, brick and iron villa c.1910 with straight pitch verandah, double hung sash windows and tall chimneys with rendered corbelling.
Built for Mr H. Gardiner, son of Stephen Gardiner, first headmaster of Guildford Primary School. Gardiner had 3 children (Rita, 'Jum' & Jean). Rita and Jean played a prominent role in the Guildford community: Guildford Grammar, St Matthews Church and the Swan-Guildford Historical Society.
