Statement of Significance

The place demonstrates a way of life no longer practised. It demonstrates associations with the beginnings of law and order in Moora, and the development of other community facilities.

Physical Description

Stone bulding Corrugated iron roof. Weatherboard building at the rear of the site is the former gaol.

History

In about 1898 the courthouse was constructed, shortly after the police station. In September 1899 the school operated from this building after moving from Mrs Campbell's house. Extensions to the former police station in 9151 and 1956 were not sufficient to provide for the needs and a new complex was constructed in the site in 1964.
