The Register entry includes Yanchep Inn and the çland on which it stands, being part of Swan çLocation 11544 on Reserve 9868, as defined in çHeritage Council drawing number YNP-5. Yanchep Inn is part of a group of similar çbuildings which were established in the 1930's as ça resort complex on the shores of Lake McNess. çThe resort is part of Yanchep National Park çrenowned for wetlands and caves and the complex çincludes sports fields, animal enclosures, çaviaries and gardens in a park setting. Completed in 1939 this large stone building was çintended to have the character of an English Inn çwith what was considered at the time to be çsumptuous accommodation. The architect was W G çBennett and the contractor C W Arnott. The çground floor walls at the front are stone but çlater additions at the rear and upstairs are çframed. The roof is tiled. Wooden panelling and çleadlight doors and windows are features of the çpublic room downstairs. The Inn contains the only visitor accommodation çnow available within the Park. Motel units were çbuilt alongside in 1976 but are not included in çthis description. Bedrooms upstairs are typical çof hotel accommodation of the period, opening off ç long passages leading to bathrooms and WC's. During World War II the RAAF had a radar squadron çat Yanchep and also used Yanchep Inn and çGloucester Lodge for the No 4 Convalescent Unit çand the No 4 Medical Rehabilitation Unit.
