The place, for its building form and architectural characteristics, makes a positive contribution to the Whatley Crescent streetscape. It is representative of early suburban settlement within Maylands and forms part of the Maylands townsite.
The house is one of a pair with No. 166 next door and is a narrow plan house with a full width front verandah returning part way down both side elevations. It has an entry on the return verandah. The walls are tuck pointed brick work and the windows are double hung sashes. It has an iron roof.
A fine authentic example of a modest early suburban house with high aesthetic value and in good condition.
