The railways played an important part in the development of the Williams district. The
Narrogin/Dwarda line (later extended through to Dwellingup) was built in 1912. The Congelin
Siding served farmers in the area and also the local Timber Mill.
Located close to the York/Williams Road, about 3 kms north of the Congelin Hall.
Little is left except built up formations through gullies to indicate the presence of the railway.
The name is taken from Congelin Gully which flows northward to join with the 14 Mile Brook (the
distance from Williams) which rises in the east and flows alongside the Congelin/Wandering Road
until it enters the Hotham River. Just to the north of the Hall is Congelin Pool, on the Congelin
Gully and the adjacent farm (owned by the Fowler family for many years) is known as Congelin
Park.
