The Nungarin Railway crane has historic significance as an acknowledgment of the role played by W.A.G.R. in the development of the town, and as one of the few remaining connections with the railway station.
The crane is mounted on a turntable set into a concrete block. It has a double reduction drive, and is in working order. The main support bears the words:
Frodingham Iron & Steel Co. Ltd England The arm of the crane has a BHP marking, and the inscription:
Max Load 50 cwt
Although it is not known when the crane was installed, it was in use until the station was closed on 30th June 1973.
