History

Then South Midlands Polocrosse Club was started on 11th August 1967b by Les Steere and Trevor martin. In the early days games were played on private property. "Sandown Park" was started in 1970, by the Polocrosse Club. After submitting three choices of names, in August 1971, the Shire advised that one of the three names, "Sandown Park" was decided. In 1973, the South Midlands Pony Club joined in running the ground. Three members and a secretary were nominated from each club, and a president was voted from the six members. It was called "Sandown Park Grounds Committee". Trevor martin was appointed caretaker in 1972.
