The Nanga No. 1 Bore has historic significance for its connection with the development of the pastoral industry in Shark Bay.
Water flows from a steel pipe and passes into a large holding pond. A nearby windmill pumps the water to other sites on the property.
The tapping of the artesian basin which occurred in the 1920s transformed the prospects of the Shark Bay pastoral industry.
