A relatively intact example of a miner's camp that was in working use until the mid-1980's.
A compound containing a cottage with earth floors, bush furniture and considerable evidence of occupation. The compound contains a variety of structures including the remains of a shed with a forge base in it. The earth floors are of clay and at present contains a number of objects that are semi-submerged in the medium.
The compound is a demonstration of the hardship that prospectors were prepared to endure and of the resourcefulness of those forced to endure the harsh existence of marginal prospecting.
