The place demonstrates associations with law and order and banking. It is a fine example of 1950's architecture which adds to the charcter and townscape of Bruce Rock.
Brick construction with a rendered finish except at the entry where it is finished in red face bricks. The place has a hipped tile roof. The place is a domestic scale building.
The courthouse was opened in March 1955. The southern part of the building was the court and the northern side was the Commonwealth Bank branch. The Clerk of the Court administered the hospital finances and was the Manager of the Commonwealth Bank. Until that time, the Clerk of Courts had been located at the Roads Board office since 1928. After the closure of the bank in the 1970's the place was entirely a court complex used by visiting magistrates. It is also used for polling days.
