The place represents the history of the banking organisations, and commercial associations. The architecture is a representative example of commercial architecture for the period, and contributes to the main street streetscape of Quairading.
The classical proportioned frontage is in line with the front boundary of the site and the recessed entries open directly onto the pavement. The bank is a brick and iron construction with rendered brick banding.
The Western Australian Bank initially operated in Parker Street on the south of the railway line, but in 1916, sold those premises to JB Harris, and purchased the National Bank premises, the National Bank manager subsequently closed his business. The Westralian Bank purchased the block next door, (Lot 15), in 1925, and erected new offices in 1926 for £2284. The Bank of New South Wales at that time had agencies in Quairading and Dangin renting a room once a week at the co-op. In 1926, the NSW bank leased premises at Hinkley's Buildings. However in 1927, the Western Australian Bank and the Bank of New South Wales merged and continued operations from the Western Australian Bank premises. Mr F Arthur took over as manager until 1938. During the early 1980s, the Bank was operating under the name of the Bank of New South Wales. About the mid 1980s, the Bank vacated the premises when a new Bank of New South Wales building was constructed further east in Heal St.
