The place is notable as an early site in the business and commercial development of the town of Woodanilling.
It is likely that commercial sales of stock were held in the railway stockyards at the southern end of the Station complex near the Robinson Road crossing.
The stock yards were essential as the railways provided the only means of long distance transport of stock at the turn of the nineteenth century.
With the advent of motorised road transport, rail deliveries were phased out in the 1950's/1960's.
Nothing remains on this site today to indicate its previous usage.
The end of the first decade of the new century, saw regular monthly stock sales being held at Woodanilling. The agents, Katanning Stock and Trading, held their first sale in December 1909 when they yarded about 1000 sheep plus cattle and horses.
Dalgety's held a sale in 1911 but it was not until late 1915 that they became regular (quarterly) markets. This development was perhaps due to the Roads Board requesting the Farmers' Mercantile Union to conduct sales in Woodanilling.
