This place has historical and cultural significance particularly in relation to the strong Italian influence and settlement in the Changerup area.
The old Marinoni house is situated on a prominent rise overlooking the farm property. The house has stone walls and a corrugated iron roof. The walls ad roof are intact, but there are no doors and windows. There are two outbuildings, a laundry and a garage, constructed from cement blocks which have been left unpainted. The house is surrounded by mature trees and shrubs.
The Italian Consul visited Changerup in 1905 to assess the area as a possible location for additional Italian migrants. Some Italians, such as the Piani family, had already settled in the district. Subsequently, many more migrants settled in Changerup. These included the Leusciatti, Imberti, Vellotti, Gianatti and Marinoni families. These families have developed a strong community spirit in the Kojonup area.
Angelo Giuseppe and Louisa Marinoni migrated with their 3 children to WA in 1911 from Britain. Louisa died in 1947.
