The place represents a way of life associated with early settlement of the Ardath area.
Cement brick construction with surrounding verandahs under the main corrugated iron roof. Part of the rear verandah was enclosed and the kitchen was a separate building adjacent to the verandah at the rear. The bricks were made from mud on site.
Albert E Ashbury took up his original selection in 1910, which included considerable additional acres of salt lake country. In 1958, Mr IC Simmonds took over the property.
