Aesthetically significant as an example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical single storey cottage dating from the first decades of the twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Single storey red brick and weatherboard at the rear, zincalume hipped and small gable roofed house. The roof has a tall brick chimney and extends over the verandah which is supported by metal columns (probably not original).The following places form a significant group and contribute to the streetscape of Fifth Street; 2, 10, 14 & 16.
This lot (8 CSL 62) was still vacant in 1919. A residence was in place by 1930. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
