The site represents associations with rail transport and the subsequent development of the agricultural industry. It also demostrates a way of life no longer practiced.
The railway line from Wickepin to Corrigin went through Yealering and opened on 8 June 1914 in Yealering. The railway tank provided water to the steam trains. Water was pumped from the railway dam to the tank, and then gravity fed into the trains. Charlie White was employed as a pumper.
