Statement of Significance
The place is a significant representation of an early occupation and commercial activity. The architecture is typical of the period, and a rare remaining example in such condition.
Physical Description
The rectangular plan building is a timber frame with weatherboard cladding. The roof is corrugated iron with gable ends. The Roberts Street frontage of the rectangle forms a truncation to the extreme angle of the street alignment, and the shop front window and door are on this facade. . A verandah with a separate roof extends along both street frontages, and is supported by square timber posts.
History
Oral evidence suggests that the building may have been relocated from the goldfields (Menzies) in the early 1920s. Coxon was the local butcher who served the district for a number of years.
