Statement of Significance
• The site of the former railway station is associated with the development of WA in
the late 19th century as a result of the gold discoveries leading to population growth
and the suburban expansion.
• The site of the former railway station has historic and social value to the
Greenmount community who recall the presence of the station and the service it
provided until 1954.
Physical Description
There is no evidence of the former railway station remaining at this site.
History
Greenmount Railway Station was located on the First Route of the Eastern Railway
operated between 11 March 1884 and 24 January 1954.
The station was situated on land bounded by Scott Street (Wilkie Road), Coulston Road
and Coongan Avenue. The station serviced passengers from Greenmount and Boya and
also provided a spur line in and out of the neighbouring Greenmount Quarry.
The alignment of the former railway line is now the site of a Heritage Walking Trail.
