History

Valentine Hinkley was a notable person within the development of
Quairading. He has the distinction of being the first person to tee oft at the Quairading Golf
Course in 1920. He and his brothers had some of the biggest shearing contracts in the state. In
1922 Hinkley had an open day at his farm to demonstrate a Cletrac tractor. In 1925 he also built
his town house (20 McLennan St) at the same time as the shops. Val Hinkley was one of 4 locals
who commenced the Quairading Picture Theatre Company in 1925.
