History

The arrival of the railway in Kojonup in 1907 was an extremely important milestone for the district. Prior to this, Kojonup had been overlooked when the Great Southern Railway from Albany and Beverley was built. Neighbouring railway towns like Broomehill had prospered with the impact of the railway link. The Kojonup connection from katanning was a light rail system, with 31 miles of line. The Kojonup terminus cost seventeen thousand, one hundred and ninety seven pounds and five shillings. The railway beccame important as a means of passenger transport, and for transporting livestock and agricultural produce. The station building has been freshly painted and is presently used as a base for the Kojonup Tourist Association.
