Statement of Significance
Building forms part of remnant building stock which makes up historic town's fabric.
Physical Description
Large two-storey brick and tile building c.1920. Building has many original details including four to twelve pane sash windows and rendered brickwork above ground floor. Guildford Grammar School buildings dominate northern landscape along Terrace Road.
History
In 1885-86 Charles Harper opened a private school in the billiard room of his residence at Woodbridge which later became the Guildford Grammar School. The first purpose built school building was constructed on this site in 1900. In 1904 the first boarding aceon was opened and incorporated into the original brick building. By 1909-10 the Church of England purchased part of the Woodbridge Estate. Englishman Canon Henn became new Headmaster in 1910-24.
