The building was constructed during the mining boom of the mid 1960s and was the social centre of the Town. Open hours used to be 11 am to 11 pm but have now been reduced to a 4 pm closing time. In addition to use of the bars and kitchens for golf and bowling club functions, the lounges and meeting rooms are still well used for travelling shows and seminars.
This large single storeyed building is rectangular in plan, with one side facing the golf course and the other, bowling greens. The grounds are well kept with trees and other vegetation providing an attractive setting.
There are two plaques as follows:
1 Matt enamel on brass, mounted on a wooden board, 40cm x 26cm, on the building, with the following inscription:
This Morawa Golf and Bowling Club was opened by Hon. David Brand M.L.A. premier and Member for Greenough. On 6th August 1966.
Monisgnor E. Bryan. N. C. Croot. Esq
President Secretary
2 Mounted on a stone cairn, outside, visible from Club Road, with the following inscription:
Jack and Marie O 'Dea in appreciation for your contribution to the gardens of the
Morawa Golf and Bowling Club
Integrity:
The form and character of the building remain largely unaltered, providing the building with a high integrity.
Modifications:
1968 buggy rooms added; kitchen extended and modernised.
