Statement of Significance
Aesthetically significant as a fine example of Fremantle’s vernacular architecture. Typical single storey stone cottage dating from the late nineteenth to early twentieth century. Historically significant as a representation of working people’s living conditions in the Fremantle area.
Physical Description
Single storey single face painted stone and rendered ashlar effect quoining and a corrugated iron gable roofed house. The dropped veranda is supported by metal columns between brackets and has lattice balustrades and sides, probably not original.
History
In 1900 this lot (37 & pt 3681 was a vacant lot owned by the Church of England. By 1910 a cottage is recorded on lot 37 of 81. (Fremantle Rate Book records).
