The place has associations with Charles Higgins.
Only the Kitchen of the original building remains on site.
In 1863 Charles Higgins, brother of Henry, married Mary Gardiner, and established 'Maldon Farm". In 1868 Charles Higgins died when Mary was still expecting Sarah Ann.
The place was until recently, owned by the great grand daughter, Elsie, and great grandson, Albert, who bred and trained horses. In 1991, Elsie died, and Jean Hayes (cousin by marriage,) inherited the share. She has since restored the homestead and bought surrounding properties including James Paines' 'Capel farm* which included the site of Kitty O'Brien's grave.
The site of Kitty O'Brien's grave is at the existing entry into 'Maldon Farm'. Kitty O'Brien, was the former sweetheart of Dinny (Weaver Dennis) Connell, a TOL worker who worked for Roberts at North Capel Farm. She tragically burnt to death when lighting a fire.
