The place is notable as an early site in the business and commercial development of the town of Woodanilling.
It is situated on the NW comer of the junction of Robinson Road and Great Southern Highway, about 1 km west of the township of Woodanilling.
It is a corrugated iron clad building which originally had petrol bowsers on the road verge. Some fuel was also dispensed in 44 gallon drums as King had the Ampol depot.
The garage was built by Jack King who had been farming at Jerramongup prior to coming to Woodanilling in 1949 to take over the bakery. King did not bake bread himself -perhaps bringing it back from Katanning after delivering children to school on his school
bus run.
King had three children by his first marriage (Allan, Joyce and Norman) and another two
with his second union (Lyn and Kevin). Plans to establish a roadhouse on the 'garage'
site never eventuated. Jack King had a number of trotters in the 1960's with some
measure of success.
