The convent was associated with the adjoining Catholic School on Lot 176, which commenced in 1955 but was given a boost about 1966 when Western Mining Corporation impacted on the town. At its peak there were about 100 children in the Catholic School and over 400 in the State School. The adjoining school has now become a Telecentre and is also used for religious education. The convent has been unused for 10 years.
The building occupies a corner site and is L shaped in plan, with a kitchen and ablution wing and an accommodation wing. Although in good condition and certainly habitable, there were signs of forced entry at the time of inspection.
There is a bronze plaque 38cm x 38cm, with the following inscription
These buildings were blessed and opened by the Bishop of Geraldton The most Rev 'd A.J. Gummer D.D. 27th March 1955.
