The place is a representative example of the architectural improvisation of structures built to accommodate miners. The place has historic value for its representation of the development of the Australian goldfields and associated social conditions for miners. The place is historically significant for its relationship with mining operations that took place at Gwalia between 1898-1963, one of the most productive goldmines outside Kalgoorlie.
The cottage has a large adjacent garage with a pergola in front. The place is now fenced and its gate bears the name of the place. An established garden surrounds the cottage.
The single gabled cottage has a lean-to verandah roof across the front elevation which has been enclosed and contains large window panes not in keeping with the window frames of the cottage and the surrounding structures.
