The place should not be demolished unless it can be demonstrated that conservation of the original fabric is impractical and demolition will not diminish the cultural heritage significance of any other place. Encourage the owner to retain the place for its value as an individual heritage place and, where relevant, because it forms part of a significant streetscape within the Conservation Area. Significant/original fabric should be retained and conserved where possible. The building or place may be extended or adapted; however the original significant building should remain the dominant feature on the site when viewed from the street. In the event of a change of use, the new use should be compatible with the heritage values, significance and historic themes of the place. The new use should not diminish the significance of the Conservation Area in which it is located.
