Statement of Significance

This church is a representative example of the Federation Revival Gothic Style. It has significance for its social and spiritual associations, playing an important part of the cultural life of the local community. It has associations with the development of the Maylands townsite.

Physical Description

The church is in the Federation Gothic Revival style and is built in red face brickwork, with stucco dressings and mouldings, and with a steeply pitched, iron roof. The foundation stone is missing.

History

The church would appear to be the earliest built in the town centre and probably dates from either the very late 1890s or early 1900s. Although the church is not in good condition, it is a finely designed, modest size church and a good example of the Federation Gothic Revival style.
