This house was owned by Alexander Forrest, explorer brother of Sir John Forrest. He was Lord Mayor of Perth and owned a large number of rental properties in Cottesloe.
This weatherboard house, built before 1901, nearly hidden by trees and surrounded by a post and rail
fence has an iron hipped roof. A trellis arch leads into the property. The verandah with a separate
dropped-pitch hipped roof has posts with chamfered sections. The straight wooden handrail has square
section balusters. The skirt of the verandah is painted tin or asbestos boarding. The chimney is brick with
a small corbel. An interestindg detail on the chimney is the decoration resembling a Lithuanian double
cross motif. A small plain gable is central to the front verandah. The doors appear to be french doors.
In late 1995 it was being renovated. Some of the trees were removed and other improvements made..
In 1916 it was owned by his son William Grant Forrest. The Nyman [Neiimann] family lived here for many years. He was the stationmaster at Buckland Railway Station. His son Colonel Nyman.
