The setting for the old Moreton Bay Fig Tree a very attractive commercial development with sunken gardens dominated by the tree. It is a popular spot for tourists and locals to gatehr. The protection given to the tree in development proposals is reflective of the increasing environmental awareness of the Denmark Shire.

Physical Description

The old Moreton Bay Fig Tree is set within a courtyard created by a shopping complex.

History

The courtyard has been carefully landscaped to enhance the very old tree which has a very large tree trunk and root system. Gnarled and twisted, the tree dominates the courtyard and supplies shade during summer for the nearby shops.
