The site represents a way of life associated with education in Lake Biddy
A plaque commemorates the site.
One of the first priorities of the early settlers was to establish a school for their children. The government provided schools after applications were received for the relevant communities who could substantiate a need and a suitable number of children. Once a Government school was established, a minimum number of 8 students was required to be maintained to keep the school open.
The school was transported in sections to the site, and assembled. It subsequently became a part of W Keighley's shearing shed after the school closed. Before relocating from the site, it provided accommodation for one of the fettlers.
