Statement of Significance

The former Headmaster's House has some local significance for its association with the school and education in the town. Further the house is one of only a few weatherboard houses in the town and is still reasonably intact.

Physical Description

This small timber framed weatherboard clad house is located on Railway Avenue. An asbestos gable roof extends to cover the front (east) verandah which is supported on timber posts and partly enclosed to the north-east corner. There is a lean-to at the rear. The house has a brick corbelled chimney.

History

At one stage this house was the residence of the Headmaster. It was built using materials from the first school in Carnamah. [Place No. 33] [Local Knowledge & Bridie Evans, Carnamah Notes, 1995]
