The site represents associations with rail transport and the subsequent development of the agricultural industry. It also demostrates a way of life no longer practiced.
The railway line from Wickepin to Corrigin went through Yealering and opened on 8 June 1914 in Yealering. The site of the fettlers dwellings is marked by a remaining fig tree which has survived from the many fruit trees that the fettlers planted during the time they lived there..
