DEMOLISHED
The large residence was built by Dr. Joel c1914 for a hospital but was never used for that purpose.
Building was an attractive timber and iron homestead with wide verandahs on at least three sides. At either side of the verandah were privacy lattice screens enhancing the symmetry of the place.
The building at 77-79 Stirling Street was built on a large block for Dr Joel, a well known local medical practitioner, who intended to use the property as a hospital. However, his scheme did not eventuate.
The house was a large, attractive timber and iron homestead on timber stumps, with wide timber verandah wrapping around at least three sides. At either end of the front verandah, lattice screens were place to provide a degree of privacy.
The house was demolished in the 1990s to make way for a block of brick residential units (Stirling Villas).
DEMOLISHED.
No visible remains.
