The place is significant for the associations with early settlers and the post office. It represents a way of life no longer practiced.
Local stone and iron with verandah surrounding the main house. The west side
has been enclosed with timber materials from a hall in Koolyanobbing (1995).
The house was built for E J Hadlow, and named after the village of Maidstone in Kent where his family came from. Hadlow owned one of Dangin's shops when the Co-op and Graham's stores provided good competition. In 1933, the Grahams closed up shop, and in 1934 Hadlow sold his shop. He was a manager of the Co-op. In 1965 the Dangin Co-op was amalgamated with the Quairading Co-op, to become the Quairading and Districts Co-op operating out of Quairading. Mrs Len Parker took the Post Office which she operated from an office on the side of the house until 1978 when it finally closed.
