The place has associations with generations of Ardath people through providing 70 years of continuous education in Ardath. It represents a way of life no longer practised in Ardath.
The timber framed, weatherboard and fibro clad building has a corrugated iron gable roof. A lean-to enclosed porch is located at he gable and of the building. A plaque commemorates the place.
On the 9th August 1915, the Ardath School opened as an Assisted School with 14 childrn from 5 families. Mrs Veitch was the teacher for the first year after she had taught at her home, the Kerkenin School and the the Central Kumminin School.
