Statement of Significance

When sheep were shephered in the bush, wool became dusty with charcoal owing to the bush being burnt off to give new growth for grazing. To remove the charcoal and dirt before shearing, the sheep were driven through sheep washes created in rivers or pools.
This is the sheep wash for Yeriminup, the homestead of the pioneering Egerton Warburton family. It was also used by neighbourhing land owners. There are other examples of these in the district such as Washpool on the Frankland Road near the Boyup Road turnoff.

Physical Description

The sheep wash was created by driving wooden posts into the river pool to form a raceway. The sheep to be washed were then driven through the raceway.
