Historic: Built for JER Richardson's son Thomas Elliott Richardson. The Richardson family coming from the North West.
Scientific: It was used as an Agricultural College for underprivileged boys in the period 1947-1962. Norm and Alice Beck initiated this school and boys from all quarters of the state were educated here.
"Langwell" is situated on the Brassey Road, Broomehill. Although a large house now, about one third of the house was demolished in the late 1960's. The passageway was reputedly 120 feet long before theis destruction. A beautiful house, one of four built for Mr JER Richardson's sons on different properties throughout the Broomehill district.
