Statement of Significance

The place demonstrates a way of life and associations with the first newspaper in Moora, as well as the Keamy Family.

Physical Description

Single shop front with a rendered stepped parapet. A suspended canopy extends over the footpath. The shop front has a central recessed double entry door. Fixed lights extend along the frontage of the shop front glazing.

History

The store was occupied by the "Midland Advertiser", the first local newspaper in Moora, which had the latest machinery and was established on 29th July 1907. It moved into the new premises in 1908. In 1914, opposition was heralded by the Moora Herald and Midlands District Advocate, but by 1915 the "Midlands Advertiser" was a bi-weekly paper and printing service. Snell's Newsagency until 1919.
